Interactive Training 'Extras'

Convergence not only utilizes superior graphics and animations in our training, but we can also incorporate interactive 'gadgets' to meet specific training needs. Below are just a few examples that we have developed in the past.

Truck Loading Simulator

This project was designed to interactively teach proper loading procedures to warehouse workers at a linerboard mill. A virtual semi-truck was developed and workers were able to simulate safe loading procedures by dragging and dropping virtual paper roles onto the truck. The system provided real-time feedback indicating whether a truck was properly or improperly loaded.

Equipment Locator

This project created an interactive flow diagram that identified equipment and machine locations within a large integrated pulp and paper mill. By clicking on an item in the 2D flow diagram, users could launch a 3D virtual layout of the mill with a photograph identifying mill equipment. This project was useful for training employees on key equipment locations. The virtual mill also allowed mill employees to quickly locate equipment for maintenance procedures on the large 20 acre site.

5S Principle Exercise

This project was developed to illustrate the advantages of 5S principles. At the beginning of the 5S training course, users were presented with a disorganized, virtual tool box and timed while they located tools within the box. Users were then presented with an organized toolbox that followed 5S principles and were re-timed while they located the tools. When the two times were compared, it was easy to illustrate the value of 5S organization to workers.
